A report claims there are tensions between WWE and 2K Sports
As the announcement was made after WWE's Summerslam 2021 event to delay WWE 2K22 from its usual November release window to March 2022, a report has emerged detailing the dissension between WWE and 2K Sports (including its development studio Visual Concepts).
This report by Michael Straw (journalist who covers gaming and sport) says the underfunded and understaffed Visual Concepts had become frustrated with WWE putting more pressure to release the game for its November release window.
Straw’s sources note WWE was even claiming to be speaking with other interested publishers as a way of threatening to cancel the partnership.
Eventually cooler heads prevailed and 2K Sports and Visual Concepts was granted a delayed release, though what the future holds in the partnership is uncertain.
WWE 2K22 will release on all Sony and Microsoft platforms next year.
