Tekken X Street Fighter not dead

Lost in translation

Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada confirms game is not dead but shelved

Tekken X Street Fighter first announced way back at 2010 San Diego Comic Con, alongside the Capcom produced Street Fighter X Tekken, has not been cancelled according to producer Katsuhiro Harada.

On a recent episode of Harada's Bar, a Youtube show created by the Tekken producer himself, was subtitled as saying “yeah, development stopped but we got about 30% done.”

Some news outlets quickly caught on believing the game to be dead.

Harada has clarified the translation, stating the words "stopped" and "dead" were mistranslations and the correct words should have been "paused" and "shelved".

On his personal Twitter account, Harada elaborated further stating "We are still hopeful that TKxSF will resume development when the opportunity arises. However, such a title cannot be moved just for the convenience of one company in terms of marketing and branding, and it also affects each other's development resources. For now, we are just waiting for the right opportunity".

Tekken X Street Fighter is Namco's version of the crossover which will feature 3D styled gameplay modelled on Tekken, while 2012's Street Fighter X Tekken was a 2D styled fighting game akin to a standard Street Fighter game.

Surely Tekken X Street Fighter will come out one day, but will interest still be there?
