Sony backflips on PS Store shutdown for PS3 and PS Vita

Fans’ outcry became the catalyst

Jim Ryan, President and CEO and Sony Interactive Entertainment, has written a blog stating the company has made the wrong decision in discontinuing the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita.

Due to fans’ passionate desire to purchase older titles on these platforms, Ryan announced the company would reverse its decision and continue store operations. The PSP Store will however still be retired as per planned on July 2, 2021.

Ryan says the original reasons for discontinuing PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita was “commerce support challenges for older devices and the ability for us to focus more of our resources on newer devices where a majority of our gamers are playing on”.

Looks like the power of the people has won in a time where Sony has been getting negative press for recent decisions.

Are you all happy to hear that PS Store is staying and being able to purchase classic titles?
