Xbox Game Pass continues to pave the way forward for the company
Phil Spencer was announced to be the new head honcho for Xbox, Xbox Live, and Microsoft Studios back in March 2014. Since then, Spencer has been at the forefront of the many ups-and-downs the manufacturer, publisher and developer has faced in the ever-changing world of AAA game development.
Known for his heavy stage presence at every E3, Spencer has been instrumental in the companies' many key initiatives - most notability the introduction of Xbox Game Pass, the launch of xCloud and the Xbox Adaptive Controller. All three initiatives have been heavily praised by the industry for their unique consumer focused approach. Spencer has also been a strong advocate for cross-platform play, something that many gamers now pressure key rival Sony to implement across the board.
With the increasing amount of first-party development studios under their wing, including the $7.5 billion purchase of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media, it would appear that Xbox and Spencer are now in a position to truly make some huge waves across the industry.
