Marvel’s Avengers MCU DLC skins not free

Developers clarifies initial confusion

On March 27, Marvel’s Avengers’ official Twitter account posted this update:

We'll be introducing the Red Room Takeover event this spring! Features rewards like animated nameplates, outfits inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a deadly HARM Room hacked by Yelena Belova, and more secrets to decrypt.

Fans initially thought the tweet suggested the ‘rewards’ would be unlocked by gameplay. However a new tweet from the official account stated:

“To clarify, the outfits inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be available exclusively in the Marketplace for purchase with credits.”

On social media, this decision has upset some fans who believe the game is a full priced title and should not be so microtransaction orientated. While others defend it, claiming cosmetics items do not alter gameplay and the game is already providing free story expansion updates.

Square Enix have released a DLC content roadmap earlier for future expansions. You can read it here.

Marvel’s Avengers received mixed reviews upon release and is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Stadia and PC.
