Replaces the Pro Evolution Soccer series
Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer series has now been renamed (or evolved into) eFootball, a digital-only free to play game. In an interview with IGN, producer Seitaro Kimura states the change reflects the new direction the franchise in which there will no longer be annual paid releases, rather the base game will get free yearly updates for new seasons.
eFootball will launch with exhibition matches and a small selection of playable clubs to play with, while future modes will be sold as optional DLC. More information about future modes will be known in late August.
eFootball will be available on PS4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC later this year, with mobile device releases scheduled at sometime after.
