Elder Scrolls VI is in early development phase

Will use Starfield as tech foundation

Elder Scrolls VI still too early for release

Bethesda’s Todd Howard says The Elder Scrolls VI is still early in development phase and will be many years away from release.

Howard states the game will build upon the foundations of the upcoming Starfield, which set for a 2022 release.

“The [new Starfield] technology, Creation Engine 2, is sort of built for both [games],” he said. “It’s like a new tech base. The vast majority of our development work is on Starfield right now but everybody works on everything so the projects kind of intertwine”.

Howard continues by stating:

“It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design [phase] but we’re checking the tech: ‘Is this going to handle the things we want to do in that game?

The Creation Engine 2 will be the biggest engine revamp Bethesda will undergo since 2006’s Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
