D&D revives the action RPG in a new spiritual successor
Based on the famous tabletop game, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance was first unveiled to the public at The Game Awards 2019.
Centered on dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden, and his companions Bruenor Battlehammer, Catti-brie and Wulfgar, the story takes place in Icewind Dale region. These four characters are the playable protagonists in this action RPG and are interchangeable during gameplay. Dark Alliance is both a single player and multiplayer game, but only with online coop being available.
The trailer rocks Ozzy Osbourne’s Straight to Hell single, and has the heroes battling the legendary monsters with their signature weapons. Unlike the game's predecessors’ isometric view of gameplay, the new trailer emphasises its third person view.
Dark Alliance is the third instalment in the series and is the spiritual successor to the PlayStation 2 era Balder’s Gate: Dark Alliance games. Developer Tuque Games takes over the reins of the series, and delivers the first action RPG for D&D since Daggerdale back in 2011.
Published by Wizards of the Coast, it will release on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC on June 22, 2021
